Due to the extreme landscapes in Bolivia, flying was both challenging and necessary from the begining of aviation. Lloyd Aereo was one of the earliest airlines in the world already in 1925, and the first international flight in 1930. The german roots of Lloyd joined forces with the brazilian Syndicato Condor to create a network that would link to Europe.
After the war, starting from 1945, the DC-3s were introduced to replace the Junkers and still to today the reliability, ease of maintenance and the rugged design ensures that the DC-3s are still flying with the condors. The airline unfortunatelly did not survive, being shut in the beggining of the 2000s after years of political instability and a destructive administration by the brazilian VASP.
