Orange Hill, Alaska (OHAK)
Orange Hill is in the Wrangle-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Alaska. It is a nice destination for a few days away from the office. It is near the terminal lake of the Nabesna Glacier. This cabin is located in the preserve, so sport and subsistence hunting is allowed. There are few opportunities for sports fishing. Hiking in the area is diverse including access to the Nabesna Glacier
There is one public-use cabin suitable for two individuals. Tent camping in the area is allowed if the cabin is already occupied. The cabin is a hike of about six hundred yards from the new strip depending on where you park. The hike can be wet as there are several boggy spots and outright muskegs in the area.
The strip is short and suited for small aircraft only. The strip is subject to erosion and is getting progressively shorter. The old strip was eroded to non-usable length several years ago.
I hope you enjoy the scenery and I always welcome comments/feedback.
