Redoubt Mountain Lodge is located on the eastern shore of Crescent Lake in the heart of Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. It is the only privately owned property in the area and is accessible only by floatplane or helicopter. The lodge is open from June through September, with daily scheduled floatplane trips to and from Lake Hood (PALH) in Anchorage provided by air taxi services.
Guests of the lodge can choose from a wide range of activities including wildlife viewing, hiking, kayaking/paddleboarding, fishing, photography, and exploring the surrounding area. The lodge also operates a Robinson R44 helicopter (N943TT). This is used to expand the guest experience to include remote rafting and fishing, alpine hiking, and sightseeing including several glaciers and archaeological sites in the area.
I highly recommend setting the time of year to June-September, shutting off the engines, and walking around the property at dusk to hear the grey wolves howling in the surrounding area! Of course, you should also be “Bear Aware” when exploring the area!
Installation: Extract the contents of the download into your MSFS Community Folder.
Dependencies: You will need the following libraries installed in your “Community” folder for everything in this scenery to display properly! A huge thank you to the creators of these libraries for sharing their talents so we can all get more enjoyment from the sim!!! If I missed anything, let me know and I’ll give credit where it’s due!!!
3. Ethnicfs Misc Scenery Objects
7. Static Boats 3D Model Library
8. JFS Beach Pack - Beach Accessories Library
Helpful Information:
1. The airport code for the lodge in the sim is “PRML” so you can program it in your GPS flight plan or search for it on the World Map.
2. There are East and West water runways.
3. Parking spot “H” is intended for helicopter use (or brave Grravel drivers).
4. Parking spot “F” is intended for floatplane use.
5. There is a turnaround area on the shore by parking spot “F” for amphibious floatplanes to turn around after passengers and cargo are dropped off.
Disclaimers:
1. This is my first scenery project. I just wanted to know how to put a cabin on a lake, and next thing I know, I’m obsessing over polygons, object libraries, and sim objects. Sorry about all the object libraries this requires - I was just playing around and didn’t intend to release it, but thought it turned out well enough that others might enjoy it, so here it is!
2. I’m not affiliated with the lodge and have never been there in real life. Aerial imagery is sparse and most of the building placement came from online videos and pictures on the lodge’s website. I know the size, shape, number, appearance, and use of buildings in real life is different, but I hope I captured the feel of the place well enough for everyone’s enjoyment.
3. The real lodge property is centered 100-200 meters north of this scenery location. I took advantage of a break in the default vegetation when I laid things out.
4. I can’t commit to keeping this up-to-date as updates occur in the sim, but I’ll do what I can when I can if I become aware of issues. Thanks for understanding!
Finally:
A big Thank You to the “Patriot Six” YouTube channel for keeping up-to-date SDK tutorial videos posted. I couldn’t have done this without the help!
Looks great 😊 Just please do not use Modellib.bgl as it causes the sim to crash (google it and you can find more information). Especially in areas like this where there are quite a few community addons.
