Astro Airlines BN2-A Islander N111BN request.
Flown by a contact who reached out and requested this livery, he actually flew this BN-2A in 1977 when it was first delivered to Argentina, registration N111BN was for a small feeder airline called ASTRO.
His roster was to fly 3 times a day, between Buenos Aires in Argentina, to Carmelo in Uruguay, a 10 minutes flight over the water. And the moto of the company was "To Fly the shortest international flight in the world, crossing the Widest River of the world". This is Rio de la Plata (La Plata River)!
This particular plane took on a few varied liveries, keeping the same cheat lines and colours with subtle changes to logos and registration during it career there.
I have reproduced for "Captain Claudio" in the livery as can be best interpreted from limited photos he supplied and what is available on the internet. Also he kindly sent me a copy of a paper cutting when the plane arrived into service there. Hence the Astro under the pilot and co-pilot doors, a very rare photo indeed.
Also thanks to photographer Carlos Ay for the photo he took back in 1987, I have reached out to Carlos also to see if he has any details on the wing stripes to make sure we have them correct.
