KEVM - Eveleth/Virginia Municipal Airport - Eveleth, MN
The Eveleth airport is a modest airport located in the arrowhead of Minnesota. The area is very useful for recreation purposes being located near many important local facilities. Being in Minnesota, it is important for outdoor recreation (i.e. fishing, hunting or otherwise vacationing in the beautiful north woods). Also though it is important for it's location to the iron range of the state with many iron ore mines. Eveleth also has the claim to hold the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Yeah!
This add-on was found after noticing that MSFS (more evidently Bing Maps) caught the airport in the middle of a runway resurface amongst some other restructuring of the airport. During the construction project, one runway was removed and runway 14-32 was converted from asphalt to turf and lastly the main runway (9-27) was resurfaced. Since the map image was taken during this time, MSFS has the two existing runways marked as CLOSED with giant yellow "X"s which is no longer true in real life. Also, this airport also suffered from flat hangar syndrome since all the hangars were missing.
If have updated the airport to match what is listed in the Airport Flight Supplement from the FAA as well as the more current google maps image. I removed excess taxiways which were removed as part of the construction project and converted 14-32 to turf as it should be. I added some additional scenery objects (yellow marker cones from the colinj library (thanks colinj!)) as well as relocated the beacon and windsock to the proper locations. I hand placed taxi lights where I could find they should be and also added hangars. All are stock hangar objects except for the fabulous Windhover open hangars (thanks again to Windhover for allowing us to use them!). One parking location was added to one of the open hangars.
Notes:
- Runways markings added/fixed
- Night lighting added with hand placed taxi lights
- Hangars added
- Taxiways moved to proper locations
- Parking locations moved to line up with painted 'T's
Installation:
- Extract the package from the zip file and place in your community folder
As always - enjoy flying in Minnesota!
Great work. I was waiting for the FAA to come and get me for landing on closed runways. Thanks for the fix.
I see that you think I Falls could use a little love. On your way up there, stop at KHIB Range Regional Airport. It’s a joke. The fire fighting base on the east side by RWY 22 isn’t there, The only building that is shown it the terminal building, and its no where close to right. Just a thought. I did a lot of Minnesota scenery for FSX, so I know whats involved.

Thanks for the kind words. I took a look at Hibbing, I concur that it could use some help (as with so many others). I will put it on the to-do list. It might take a bit as the weather in MN is now getting to the point that we'll be outside a lot more so sim time will go down proportionally. Eventually though I would like to get it done.

Nice! I've lived in MN most of my life and while I've driven through Eveleth I haven't been to the hockey hall of fame. I guess I can't call myself a true Minnesotan then!
