IMPORTANT | Turn off all crash damage before loading the UFO
For the past few months that MSFS has been out, something has always felt missing to me. Something... out of this world.
I present: the UFO! With a custom flight model and control system (thanks to thealx!), it controls closely to how a real UFO does.
Forward and backwards movement of the yoke/stick will move the UFO forwards/backwards, and left or right will move the UFO those ways too. The throttle controls the vertical speed, and the altitude set can be used to achieve a (somewhat) stable cruise.
In order to start the UFO, simply click the 'engine start' button on the dashboard in front, and all systems will start. Sometimes you will have to press this even if the engines are on.
As well as this, you can open/close the hatch, and turn on/off the light below the UFO.
Features:
- Maximum speed of 7100 knots, cruise speed of 6000 knots
- Max operating altitude of 275,000 ft
- Custom sounds
- Can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs
- Around the world trip can take less than 4 hours
- Kitchen included
- Hatch that opens and closes
- Rotating world map
- (Experimental) Altitude set
- Green superlaser (light)
While the interior resembles a kitchen, I can assure you that this UFO does not originate on planet Earth.
Install:
It's as easy as unzipping the downloaded zip, and dropping the resulting folder into the community folder. To find your community folder, I recommend this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPABr6ltBxo
Thanks especially to thealx for helping out on the flight model, the UFO would not fly without him.
Hello Technotech,
I love your project but it seems that there is still a lot of work to be done...
Really unfortunate that it is practically impossible to control properly:
- slopes
- hovering
- the slightest landing worthy of the name
Are you planning to improve your addon?
If I could I would be happy to help you!
Best regards

i can confirm that this does in fact work with the latest sim update

Having some type of landing gear would be cool. Other than that super fun to fly.

Using the slew function to move around might be more realistic. I think UFOs are vessels used by those running the quantum computer that is programming our universe. Probably some kid in the year 4590 in some other dimension in a craft checking out this universe he invented on his new quantum computer he bought at Best Buy. lol
I did notice in alleged UFO films that the vehicles move exactly like you move using the MSFS2020 slew function, so it got me thinking about it.

Ok this UFO was a blast to fly in MSFS 2020. It was kinda weird to get use to and its still a little hard to get it to turn the way id like it to go. So i ended up going over 1,000 knots over the ocean at 100 ft off the surface, and zipping through the clouds at 7k ft. I have yet to try it out in VR, but im pretty sure its gonna be crazy. Over all, great work! This adds a lot of wacky fun to the sim.

I am an alien from the planet Zorg, and I would like to confirm that this is the most realistic UFO ever created in a video game.
Nanu, nanu.
EDIT: Awarded 4.5 stars which I always award to stuff I like rather than the full 5 because I like to think it motivates the developer to work on making their work better to earn the full 5.
A note for those struggling to tame this monster. Anyone who thinks this thing is too hard to fly simply hasn't spent the time needed to figure it out yet.
Tip: Altitude Hold is your friend, never mind what Jeff Favignano says. Spawn into a runway and throttle up a ways immediately, that way the thing will get off the ground before it can go spinning off down the hill. Turn on the engines when you're safely away from danger of spinning out of control so that the altitude hold readout display lights up.
Altitude hold on, set to whatever altitude you want, be careful to select an altitude hold higher than the level of the ground beneath you, since you will instantly teleport to that altitude and may go spinning off again. Throttle up to a position where the ship can fly with it's nose nice and horizontal. If the nose starts to pitch down, you are not throttling enough. If the nose pitches up, you are throttling too much.
Push the stick forward just a small tiny little bit to gain speed slowly. Keep the stick held gently forward. Left and right on the stick will change direction slowly, and after changing direction, the ship will slowly begin to face the new direction. To slow down, pull back a tiny bit on the stick to gradually come to a stop. Everything is best done gently, and by small careful movements.
If the ship starts to wobble, you are either throttling too much or not enough, in which case look at whether your nose is up or down and see above. Or you may be flying too low and fast, in which case see below.
As you get closer to the top speed, the forces acting on the ship from the air pressure will become quite harsh, so climb using your altitude hold - the thinner air will help keep you steady and also present less resistance so you can go even faster! At around 100,000-250,000, you should be capable of reaching about 7000 knots of ground speed.
I got up to 2,500,000 feet last night before I got bored of climbing and also when I realised I would have to come all the way back down again. This thing can climb forever.
KEEP ALTITUDE HOLD ON!
I haven't figured out landing safely yet, though.

On my system, this also breaks the panel on the King Air.

it may be a little rough around the edges but overall great frickin work man. i always said MSFS needed something stupid fast to fly around the entire world and now you have given us the gift of all hell loose speed. thanks
