Aeroflex–Andover Airport (FAA LID: 12N) is a public-use airport located two nautical miles (3.704 km) north of Andover within Kittatinny Valley State Park in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The airport is publicly owned by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and used as a base for aerial wildfire suppression.
Pilots consider landing on the short runway challenging, particularly for those who do not regularly use the airport. With large lakes on either end, it has been likened to an aircraft carrier.
12N is also the home for Andover Flight Academy, (AFA). They specalize in teaching the art of flying tailwheel airplanes. Some clients include Harrison Ford who came out in 1995 in preparation for a movie and remained a client for many years. The grass on the East side of the runway is used for grass landings.
I decided to take on this airport, since it is my hometown airport. Growing up I would ride my mountain bike to the airport and sit and watch planes doing touch and go's all day. You used to be able to ride your bike across the apron 21 before the New Jersey Forest Fire Service made it home and closed off the gates.
I have updated many areas of the airport to reflect better than what MSFS auto-generated. This is a WiP still and will continue on improving upon the expierence flying into and out of Aeroflex-Andover.
Please let me know if you find any issues and Happy Flying!

Fred Hussey (my uncle) owned this airport along with most of the land on the other side of Limecrest Road down to the big white house next to the creek where he lived. He also owned a small summer/guest house on the lake right across the street. I'm pretty sure his son (Derrick) is still in the area. We moved to Arkansas when I was a kid, but we'd go back to NJ to visit relatives almost every summer. During one visit, Fred took my dad and I to this airport (which was his then) to check out some of the WWI fighters he was collecting! Anyway... Aeroflex-Andover Airport has always been one of my 'go-to' places to fly/visit (and now you know why)! I just want to say Thank You for your work and the upload! Hmmmm... Any chance you could do something with McKinney National Airport (KTKI)? 😉

I have brought many students there, having worked as a Flight Instructor at nearby Sussex over the early years of my career. Glad to see it getting a makeover for MSFS.

I used to have a scenery for this airport back in the FSX days and it was always my go to spot. I'm so happy to finally have it in MSFS! The terrain in the area is awesome for low and slow ultralight flying too.

This looks great! I just made a flight up there and it's nice to see the hangars while in the pattern. Just a few things, the hangars are a little above the ground and should be lowered a little. Also maybe could use some static aircraft on the field.

Thank you! Oh I didn't notice, the terraforming was a bit messed up in some areas so might have been a side effect. I am planning on adding some static aircraft in my next release.
