Crystalic Business Park

Crystalic Business Park is one of the most recognizable and unique buildings in Leeuwarden.

Architect Gunnar Daan (1939 - 2016) designed Crystalic. He was inspired by the environment and Frisian history.

Although the building looks modern, it is actually inspired by a very old-fashioned building: namely a Frisian farmhouse.

But then with a larger and above all more transparent twist.

The beginning of Crystalic

The construction of this building started in 1999. Three years later Crystalic was delivered ready-made, resulting in a flexible, innovative and sustainable building.

Exactly what Gunnar Daan had in mind.

The concept

The idea was to make Crystalic "the" business center of Leeuwarden. Sufficiently large to be able to offer a wide variety of office spaces and to offer all facilities relevant to office users. Moreover, on the outskirts of the city and with ample parking. And above all: a special building. Het Wetterskip rented most of Crystalic for almost 10 years, which meant that the building was almost 100% filled until the departure of this tenant in 2016. Although the Wetterskip Crystalic has helped through the crisis for years, it has only been possible to really shape the concept since their departure. By investing further in Crystalic, among other things by relocating the reception, building a cozy lunch restaurant at the entrance, building the Crystalic Lounge and by a committed and professional team, Crystalic now has the shape and is prepared for the future.
